DVD

1. Installation of McGuider*

McGuider DVD -> data carrier

1. Depending on your device and preferences there are two options:

(a) Install McGuider on internal memory of your device:
Connect your device to your computer using Data transfer method, so that it appears as a new removable disk in your computer.
(b) Install McGuider on storage card (i.e. SD card) Insert storage card into the card reader of your computer.


2. Insert the DVD into your computer and the installation wizard should start automatically within a few seconds.If the installation does not start automatically, you can start it manually from your DVD running McGuider Installer. exe from Installer folder.


3. Follow the instructions of the wizard.


Data carrier -> device

After finishing the synchronization of installation and map files from DVD :

1. Please start the automatic installation process inside your device:

(a) If you prepared McGuider into the internal memory of your device: Disconnect this device from your computer.
(b) If you prepared McGuider into the storage card: Insert this card into your device.

 

2. Installation wizard will be launched within a few seconds.

 

3. Follow the instructions of the wizard.

As soon as McGuider is activated it is locked by default to the data carrier (i.e. SD card or internal memory). For activation of McGuider please go to www.mcguider.com/activate and keep your enclosed product code at hand

2. Setting up the GPS reception*

Make sure that your GPS module is active. At the first run, McGuider performs automatic detection of GPS settings.

Please note, that you can access GPS settings anytime in McGuider Menu by choosing Settings and selecting GPS Hardware.

How to improve the satellite reception

  1. If available, activate the Assisted GPS in your operating system to speed up the initial fix.
  2. Position the GPS receiver outdoors, away from high buildings.
  3. For optimal reception, check the angle of the GPS antenna according to your hardware manufacturer's instructions. In most cases the antenna should be perpendicular to the sky.

How to install the external Bluetooth GPS module

  1. Turn on the Bluetooth GPS module.
  2. Make connection between Bluetooth GPS module and your device (pairing):

    Windows Mobile for Pocket PCs and Smartphones:
    Tap Start and select Settings. Chose Connections tap and select Bluetooth.
    Go to Devices tap and select Add new device...
    Select your device from the list of detected devices.
    Activate the service Serial port.
    In COM ports tab, create a new Outgoing port for your GPS device.

    Symbian S60 phones:
    You need to find and select Bluetooth. Switch to Paired devices.
    Select New paired device to start searching for devices in range.
    Select your device from the list of detected devices.
    Enter passcode of your device (see device manual; usually "0000").
    Confirm Authorise device to make connections automatically.

SD Card

1. Installation of McGuider*

  1. For mini SD card type use the card adapter (micro to mini)
  2. Insert McGuider SD card into your device. Make sure that SD card is not locked for writing.
  3. Installation wizard will be launched within a few seconds.
  4. Follow the instructions of the wizard.


If the installation wizard does not start automatically:

Windows Mobile for Pocket PC's:
Run Programs and select Fire Explorer. Tab Storage card and run the file SetupWinMobile.exe to start the installation wizard.

Windows Mobile for Smartphones:
Tap Start, run Programs and select Fire Explorer. Tab Storage card and run the file SetupWinMobile.exe to start the installation wizard.

Symbian S60 phones:
You need to find and select File Manage and switch to the memory card content. Choose and run SetupSymbianS60.sis to install the software.
